Tis the season!

***

Another year is drawing to a close, and we are busier than ever! Keep your eyes peeled for the girls in green this Saturday, December 1st at the Broken Arrow Christmas Parade down Main Street. To keep with the parade theme of 'Little Drummer Boy Christmas', the GCRG will be joined by our good friends from Project Huckleberry - they've got the beat!

Join the Green Country Roller Girls at Broken Arrow Roller Sports the following weekend and help us continue the holiday happiness by giving back to our community. Bring a new, unwrapped toy OR items for Freedom Boxes and get free admission. One free entry per donation, please. All donations made at this event will go to Toys for Totsand Blue Star Mothers. Visit these sites for lists of items.  All ages are welcome! This will be a regular public skate session from 2-7pm featuring a mini derby bout at 5pm. So strap on some skates and get in the spirit - we'll see you on the rink!

Our beautiful logo (many thanks still to the designer, Matt Whitley, of Arkansas) next to the door....6 feet tall!
Many, many thanks to Devil's Reject (Trick) for the hours on end he has spent over the last two weeks painting the GCRG logo on the side of Broken Arrow Roller Sports! He has been a huge supporter of our league since the beginning, and we're lucky to have him. Special thanks to Darrin, Heather, Chase, Chanin, Lynn, and everyone else @ B.A.R.S. for their continued and unwavering support of the GCRG. We're sure proud to call this rink home, and they're proud of us.

You can stop by and check out the new art work and cheer on the GCRG when they go head to head with Wichita, KS on October 14th. Tickets are on sale now! For more information and to order tickets visit GreenCountryRollerGirls.com

The Green Country Roller Girls Join Women's Flat Track Derby Association

***

Tulsa—September 26, 2007— The Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is proud to announce today that The Green Country Roller Girls have been accepted as a member of the WFTDA, the national governing body for women's amateur flat track roller derby in the U.S.

As a new member of the WFTDA, The Green Country Roller Girls join the ranks of over 30 all-female, skater owned and operated leagues nationwide that have united to lead the growing sport of women's flat track roller derby.  WFTDA member leagues engage in sanctioned interleague play, including regional and national tournaments.  The Green Country Roller Girls will be a Division III member in the western region.

  About the WFTDA

Founded in 2004, the WFTDA promotes and fosters the sport of women's flat track derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill among member leagues. The governing philosophy is "by the skaters, for the skaters." Women skaters are primary owners, managers, and operators of each member league and of the association. WFTDA's operational tasks include setting standards for rules, seasons and safety, and determining guidelines for the national and international athletic competitions of member leagues. All member leagues have a voice in the decision-making process, and agree to comply with the governing body's policies.  For more information, visit www.wftda.com.

(Check back soon. More GCRG history to come!)
